Specific dates and budget are needed for the best suggestions. Can you make do with two double beds and a sofa bed?

There are so many good hotels in NYC, and several very appealing neighborhoods. Most people have at least some idea of what they want to spend. Plus think through what type of bed and room configuration you want. Do you want multiple rooms? Does everyone need their own bed or can you share? Are sofa beds acceptable?

Do you know what you plan to do during your short stay? Things of interest are spread out. It could make sense to stay near some of the things you plan to do, or near the types of restaurants, shopping, galleries, etc that appeal to you. Do you plan to see any shows? Any additional info that can help us make suggestions?

Start by selecting dates, deciding how many beds and bathrooms you need, how much you are willing to spend.

A place to start - if you have the fortune of being the one in charge - is just check various hotels and dates on booking.com and hotels.com, see if anybody in the group has affiliations or points they want to use. Feb. is the least expensive month, with 5 people I would opt for at least 2 rooms or a suite with 2 bathrooms - you can check the reviews of hotels on the booking sites and TA. Then with dates, number of beds/rooms/configuration, location preferences and most importantly preferred budget to maximum budget the hotel experts can help.

Read the top questions on the right here and google about various Manhattan neighborhoods to get a sense of things. Here is a start: https:/…nyc-neighborhood-guides

BTW, when budgeting for this trip, be sure to add 15% for taxes. We do need a budget and dates of travel as hotel rates vary daily.

If you all expect to have your own bed, options are fewer. There's no one location that's best for everything. For just 2 nights, if one is theater, you might want to stay near theaters. Doubletree Guest Suites is all 1 bedroom suites ( some with 2 double beds and sofabed)but they also have a few 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suites. The Knickerbocker is great with large room with 2 queen beds vs the more typical 2 doubles most hotels have. The San Carlos, not in Times Square but close enough has some 1 bedroom suites with 2 queen beds and sofabed. Marriott Marquis has big rooms too.
