Penn station to 43rd Street, subway or walk?

We are arriving into Penn station on the Lirr from Jamaica station at around 3pm on a Friday. We are staying in the Casablanca Hotel on 147W 43rd street, would we be better off walking or taking the subway?

We wont have much luggage and we are fairly fit so either walking the streets or climbing steps in the subway don't bother us, Im looking for the quickest way of getting there, time flies when your in New York so I don't want to waste a second of it!!!

Fastest will be to take the 1, 2, or 3 train one stop uptown to 42nd Street and walk from there. That’s what I would do.

It would be faster to walk instead of walking to the subway, waiting for the subway, exiting the subway, walking to the hotel...its a ten minute walk from Penn Station to your hotel.

I vote with the Florida DE over the NY DE on this one! I'd walk it. 10 min max to walk. Just waiting for the subway can take that long on an off day.

You don't say when you're coming or many you are, so I'll wing it.

If the weather is good, by all means, it's an easy walk.

In inclement weather, if all of you and your luggage can fit into a cab, that's what I would do.

I'll throw out another option. Instead of LIRR, take the E to Port Authority. It's a shorter walk.

The E is a great suggestion, but I would be reluctant if they have a lot of luggage (or especially cumbersome luggage).

Nixs the E Train. Why complicate this. It is an easy walk and an an easy subway ride on the 1,2,3. Weather permitting, I would walk. You should do what you feel like doing.

The E train is instead of NOT in addition to the LIRR. Yu catch it in Jamaica.
