I have heard that there is a coffee shop in New York CIty that looks liked/ is themed around the FRIENDS coffee shop Central Perk; is this correct and if so does anybody know where it is, I tried finding a website for it but no luck so if anybody can provide any links for useful info that would be great- visiting NYC from England in December and we are big friends fans!

I think the Downtown-Uptown cafe on the Upper East Side was supposed to be like "Central Perk", but I read a while back that it was closing.

Yep, it's closing or is closed - as ever, I read it here first!:

If it helps though, you can visit the exterior location of the 'Friends' apartment building on the corner of Bedford and Grove Streets!

It looks that way

I'm liking the sound of The Little Owl which is downstairs from the Friends building so where Central Perk would have been.

The place didn't exist when the show was on the air. According to this, there's one fashioned after it in Europe

I also see one after the show in California.

Ange, I like the sound of The Little Owl too - thanks for the link!

I wonder if it's named after the cute owl figure on the roof of the wooden building opposite the "Friends" building? I remember it being pointed out during the tv locations tour last year!

Shame about Uptown Downtown TL, I remember when you first mentioned it. Oh well, another one off the list!

The Little Owl might just be the perfect Village neighborhood spot - and their gravy meatball sliders might just be the perfect appetizer. It's on the street level on the corner of Bedford and Grove with floor to ceiling windows on both corners.

Trouble is it's almost impossible to get in - reservations are a month out - try opentable.ocm

And here's me thinking I'd 'discovered' somewhere!

I might make a res, I was considering it for a weekend brunch but the brunch menu on menupages isn't exciting me.

There are a number of places in Brooklyn similar to Central Perk:

Tea Loungue (2 locations. The one on Union St. is larger and I think better.)

Ozzies (multiple locations. The one on Fifth Avenue is the best.)

Propsect Perk (I just noticed this place this weekend. Not that big, but cute.)

Those are just a few in Park Slope. There are plenty more in Greenpoint, Williamsburg (both Brooklyn) and Long Island City (Queens), but I forget names. Most will be easily accesible by subway.

I'd try perusing www.yelp.com for more.

If you want to find more "locations from Friends", check out this link from the FAQ "sticky" at the top of this forum:
