Celebreties

Not that it is a huge deal but where are you most likely to run into them?

Whenever you are in the same place they are.

There is no rime or reason for celeb sighting - they are people, justlike yourself, albeit probably much better off financially, just going about their business.

Ok. Well, Jerry Stiller stood behind me once in the World O' Nuts store on the UWS and ordered low carb ice cream; Snoop Dog sat in the booth next to me in that hamburger place on Bway on the UWS, saw Alec Baldwin trying to hail a cab on Columbus Circle, etc., etc. So, anywhere and everywhere

I saw Kanye West and Rhymefest in a comic store behind the ESB looking at animated porn comnic mags and Christopher Walken shared out airport shuttle taxi to the airport!

I knew I recognised Christopher from somewhere as he came out of his apartment building but couldn't work out where. He pointed this acting academy out to us and said it was where a lot oof actors and actresses started out in NY (maybe that was his giving us a clue as to who he was!).

The penny finally dropped 3 weeks later.

He was really friendly and his cat was drugged out for the flight on his lap!

Oh and my friend choked on her fag after spotting Susan Sarandon walk past our hotel (The Salisbury). I didn't recognise her but saw the back of her as my friend pointed like a loon as she tried to catch her breath!

I had my pic taken with one of P.Diddy's cronies outside Badboy Entertainment who featured a lot in one of the Making The Band series.

You can sit at the bar opposite if you have time to kill and you'll usually see someone signed to Badboy walk through the doors at some point. We'd missed Cassie by 5 mins apparently. Not that I actually cared at the time.

A lot of the U.S open tennis players were staying at the hotel opposite the Salisbury when we were there last year too. I didn't see any of them but there huge blacked out tour buses were there every day.

You can see slebs anytime, anywhere. NY's a big place!

I saw Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones walking their then new baby in Central Park, saw Hillary Swank walking down the street in the UES, sat next to Jack Nickelson at an Italian place in the Village.

I think you have to look to find them - they look like normal, everyday people - not like the photoshopped versions in the magazines.

Two weeks ago, I stalked Jeff Goldblum.

My wife and I were standing at a street corner in Chelsea, wondering which direction to take to find Chelsea Market (home of the Food Network and other delights) because I hadn't bothered to memorize the address and nobody we asked seemed to know, when Jeff (we're on a first-name basis now) walked right in front of us. Without thinking, I let out a "Holy crap, baby, do you know who that is?!" as he was checking out the storefront flower display ten feet away.

Her response, "Does he work for the Food Network?" tickled me to no end. Sorry about that, Jeff. You're still a star to my eyes.

Without buying anything, he started walking away, and I decided that he would be the next "stranger" we asked for directions, so we took off after him in hot pursuit. He was hoofing it at a pretty good clip. The chase ensued for a couple of blocks, and every so often he would look back over his shoulder for no apparent reason that I can think of. I thought we might catch him when he slowed to exchange pleasantries with a pair of hot chicks, but then he crossed the street against the light and eventually disappeared in the vicinity of The Tate at 10th Avenue and 23rd. Why, Jeff, why you gotta do me like that?

(Incidentally, we did find Chelsea Market to crash whatever party the Food Network happened to be throwing. After pressing a security guard, he reluctantly told us where to find the elevator that would take us to the third floor headquarters. On the way up, and undaunted by the security cameras, we developed a script that could schmooze our way in with the hope that I might kiss Alton Brown or tell Bobby Flay what an arrogant jerk I think he is. Alas, the lobby was deserted and the doors were locked. Foiled again.)
