You can look at the restaurants right on the plaza, such as

Sea Grill: http://www.rapatina.com/seaGrill/

or Rock Center Cafe: http://www.rapatina.com/rockCenterCafe/

but I have a feeling they're long since booked up.

Not sure of any restaurant overlooking the Rockefeller Center tree - however this is a very popular event and to view it in person would mean arriving several hours prior to the ceremony which begins in the early evening. As for the line up - do you mean entertainment or for the ceremony.

Check www.rockefellercenter.com for more information on the events.

Here's a site with everything you'll want to know about the tree lighting and Rockefeller Center in general......

…about.com/od/…rockcentertree.htm

As far as the "line up" is concerned....NBC television usually hosts the event and usually doesn't announce much until closer to the actual lighting date (Dec.3rd this year).

As Sasha said, they have not announced the lineup.

Did you look to see if there are any tables left at the restaurants I recommended?

By the way, on this thread--

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g60763-i5-k2320124…

a poster mentions that s/he got there 3-5 hours early and still wasn't able to see much, so if this is an important part of your trip, you need to plan accordingly.

This is no longer the little NYC celebration it once was but now more like NYE in NYC! You will need to arrive around noon, will stand all day in the cold, will not be able to leave or you will lose your spot, will not have bathroom facilities available and will not have access to food or drink. Bottom line is that it is not a great event as you are little more than window dressing for the TV audience. The best place to see it...anywhere you can watch NBC TV in comfort!
