And the forecast is ......................... SNOW !!

Heavy Snow Friday

Snow will become heavy at times during the afternoon. Some rain or sleet may mix in. Temps nearly steady in the low to mid 30s. Winds ENE at 10 to 20 mph. 4 to 6 inches of snow expected.

Anyone arriving Friday the 19th should check with their airline as to status of NY airports.

Depending on which forecast (guess) you believe the snowfall expected ranges from 4 to 10 inches.

So, good sturdy footwear, hats, gloves, scarves would be recommended.

And if there is heavy snow, traveling on surface streets will be a challenge so keep that in mind with timing for anything you have scheduled. This is where the subway 'shines'.

So, plan ahead and good luck.

This sounds dangerous - leaving the work Christmas party in up to 8 inches of snow. Help!

I only heard 3 in the city, 6 - 12 north of the city and in Connecticut (which I know is north of the city).

It's also supposed to snow again Sunday.

BobbyC - man, I knew you were a smart guy - all these predictions, just guessing in my book - just have to wait and see - I'm coming down Saturday just hope MetroNorth is running somewhat normally!

The weather pundits are only saying about three inches in the City, and they tend to predict on the high side. I sincerely doubt that we will be dumped on. However, a little snow makes the City just that much more festive.

Very exciting!

But we’re still not talking blizzard conditions – the snow plows and salt trucks will hit the Manhattan roads early and often and doormen and business owners will be shoveling the sidewalks even as it’s still snowing. Even if we get that full 10 inches (unlikely) this shouldn’t really affect what tourists and most Manhattan residents are up.

It’s after the snow stops falling and that top layer starts collecting dirt and muck as it turns into slush and ice that it’s going to turn nasty and you’ll want that pair of boots.

Poppa:

MetroNorth is usually good in the snow, unless it is a ton or it knocks down trees.
