I think you've picked one of the most expensive weekends of the year ! (NYC Marathon)

If you want to stay at RCA, if you PHONE them, you can get a price that's 20% less than that

You can get a 1-bedroom suite -- with 2 double beds in large, airy bedroom, sofabed in living room, plus nicely equipped kitchnette -- at the freshly renovated Hotel Beacon for $295/night or $1180 total for those 4 nights, before taxes, via Travelocity or Orbitz [can't seem to access the hotel's own online reservations page right now].

Better accommodations than RCA, and is in a terrific, more residential neighborhood within easy walking distance to Central Park and good bus subway access.

If you don't see any difference in price b/w the 2 weekends, being here for the marathon is a lot of fun. Typically it's driven prices up for that weekend, but it might not be the case this year or this early. I do think you should phone for the 20% discount though. I agree the Beacon is nicer but it doesn't offer any more space or another bathroom, both of which would be nice.

I'm assuming, btw, the RCA is a 2 bedroom suite, yes?

NYWHIZ, I thought the Marathon was the first weekend of November (Nov 1)

Karen, you're absolutely correct. I was looking at the wrong year. It's the first Sun. in Nov. and this year it falls on the the 1st of Nov. So sorry benji55. Hope I haven't made you crazy.

Unless the deal has recently changed...

the 20% discount for four or more nights by directly calling RCA is good until September 4th.
