You can see where it was heading: Pier 59, which is just south of 20th Street and is part of the Chelsea Piers complex. There are also a variety of memorials, which you can read about here:

Ya I know all about that!!! It's just I'm really interested in it since I did the musical....which is on again in Oct/Nov in Tralee!!...whohoo!!! It's just that when I was in London a few years ago they had an unbelievable exhibition on it! You got a ticket of a real person who was on Titanic and you found out at the end if they lived or died! I loved it...most interesting exhibition I've ever been at! I was just wondering was there anything like that in New York since that's the city it was supposed to sail to???

My daughter is a Titanic fan, so here's a wierd answer:

1. There is a guy in Long Island City (just over bridge from Manhattan who is a Titanic Fanatic and decorated the entire front and lobby of his house with Titanic memorabilia. The front is open to the public (I have been there. "Interesting"):

2. Chelsea Piers (I think) has Titanic related photos on the wall, because these were the piers where survivors were brought or where the original passengers were to arrive. If you walk along the covered walkway that goes between the River and the buildings, they are (or were) there.

3. There are a few Titanic memorials http://www.maint.com/Titanic/

4. There have been Titanic walking tours:

BTW: Do you know there is supposed to be a recreated voyage in 2012 on the 100 anniversary ?

The guy who played the captain in the musical's run on Broadway was named John Cunningham. He's been in several other things you've heard of if you google him but I've been a fan of his since I was in Junior High and was dragged kicking and screaming (not really - I did enjoy it) to the Shakespeare festival in Stratford Conn. There were 4 plays and he was in everyone of them. He kept me awake and interested. I got to tell him this around the time that the Titanic was playing. I saw him in a Monday night staged reading and spoke to him at the reception afterwards. Have since run into him a couple of times in the city.
