Udon or Soba noodles

I visited London for the first time this summer and found a place I loved. It's called Wagamama and they have Asian noodle dishes. I had never eaten udon or soba noodles and quickly decided I loved that place.

Where do you wonderful experts go for udon or soba? I've looked at a few menus of Japanese restaurants in town (Donguri is the only name that comes to mind) and I'm not a sushi fan, just like the noodles. Thanks for any suggestions!

My wife and I like;

Sobaya

We usually order 'yasai' soba ..... they use a fish stock for the broth

Arigato Mamma ..... I'm sure there's lots of other great places for udon and soba but we particularly like 'Sobaya'. My wife has a Japanese friend that first took her and we mostly see Japanese people eating inside so that means it's probably pretty good. They also make the buckwheat noodles themselves. BTW ..... while you're there, try the three scoops of ice cream after your meal. Our favorites are the green tea, cirtrus and wasabai flavors. They put some crunch fried noodle with it.

I'm not sure if the wave reached Columbus, but 'ramen noodle' was actually the popular noodle of choice over the past two years or so in NYC. You might also like to try a ramen noodle place too. Here's a few we like;

As Lotus knows,I'm a huge fan of Ippudo and Momofuko - but you simply can't go wrong with any of Lotus's suggestions. Ippudo has sister restaurants in Japan and Momofuko is operated by chef-of-the-moment David Chang.

One more thing, the broth at both Ippudo and Momofuku is pork based

fyi: Wagamama is in Boston too, in case you're in that neck of the woods:

Wagamama in London is healthy fast food. We love the place (and there are plenty of them all over London, that's for sure!)

Fussyguest ..... I just looked up Wagamama and alot of people on Chowhound compare it to 'Republic' on Union Square ...... sweet!

*** you simply can't go wrong with any of Lotus's suggestions ***

LTT ..... that's an uber-cool compliment coming from the Dalai Lama of eating. I'm acrtually blushing. Here's to you bro ..... a battle of the 'hot' female K-pop bands of the moment. (You'll want to use the full screen for these my friend)

Whoops ..... sorry ..... looks like there was a 'technical problem' on that last post. Here's the 'Wonder Girls' ..... smash hit ..... "So Hot"

BTW ..... my vote goes to After School for both song, lyrics, graphics, video, and 'hotness'

Lotus: Is a 'Republic' comparison good or bad for Wagamama? I am clueless here.
