Is that one night, (checking in on the 6th and out on the 7th) or two nights (checking in on the 6th and out on the 8th)?

AlicePalace found a single room at The Pod for those dates for $134.00 with shared bath. I found bunk beds with shared bath @ the Pod for $169.00. (info is on your other thread). How many are you?

quikbook.com

travelzoo.com

are both good sites to check for bargains. quikbook is having a bit of a sale on NYC rooms right now. They advertised Park South Hotel for $199.00 a night (en suite) before taxes and fees. I like that hotel a lot and they have a bit of a free breakfast too. There's a great bodega down the street from Park South that has fantastic bagels, really great coffee and the best deli I had in New York. (beat Katz's).

That budget equals $170 per night exclusive of taxes. Unfortunately, that's a low budget for that time of year.

On www.quikbook.com I see one option in Manhattan that meets that budget:

The Pod Hotel: $169 /nt

Even the usual budget suspects like the Best Western Bowery, Cosmopolitan Hotel, Hotel Stanford far exceed that budget.

You might find something at one of the Long Island City hotels like the Verve or Quality Inn, or La Quinta. Some of the LIC hotels are only 20 minutes from Manhattan by subway.

You could also try bidding for a Jersey City hotel on Priceline and win the Hyatt for that price. That's an easy PATH train ride from Manhattan, just across the river.

The Wins Calendar at www.betterbidding.com shows 2 different people have won the Roosevelt (3.5*, Midtown East) for $150 for your dates. That's a very good deal. If you're comfortable with Priceline, you could try that.

It may be legal but it's awful. The Travel Inn is $180/night plus tax for a standard room with double bed on hotels.com

If you're flying into JFK or LGA and don't mind staying just outside Manhattan, the Carlson Country Inn & Suites (brand new) has a room with city view for $125/night plus tax. If you're flying into Newark and don't mind staying just outside Manhattan, the new Westin Jersey City is within your budget.

You could try the Comfort Inn Manhattan Bridge - we're going around those dates and have got it for $145 a night (not inc tax) from booking.com. Not sure if it has rooms available for your dates though, but might be worth a look as it's getting really positive reviews at the moment.

The Comfort Inn Manhattan Bridge is unfortunately sold out for that weekend, but the Hotel Reserve in lower Manhattan is now available for $209/night via a 24-hour sale today on Expedia.

There are also a couple of rooms with a double bed/shared bath at the West Side YMCA for $149/night. Great location across from Central Park but not-so-great rooms.

All of the best [combination of convenience to subway and quality/price value] hotels in Long Island City still have rooms available for $130-160/night.

The OP is looking for an 'en-suite' room which, I believe, is a room with private bath. For the price she quoted it seems she may have to settle for shared bath or a fleabag, calling a spade a spade.
