Bar Boulud. Or Rosa Mexicano if you like Mexican. Picholine is right there too.

At the Opera House itself:

Another Italian possibility: Gabriel's

The restaurants at Columbus Circle (e.g., Landmarc, Asiate, Jean George, Nougatine) are not too far imo.

I don't know if it will be good or not (I hope so!)....but based on TA recommendations, we are going to La Boite en Bois for a prix fixe dinner before the opera next month.

The Wooden Box will be excellent and it is good that you have reservations

because they get very crowded, yet maintain good service.

I second bilmin's suggestion of Fiorello's. Had a very nice dinner there a few months ago. Even got a complimentary glass of bubbly while waiting for my table. Great dinner too.

I have been to Fiorello's, Josephines and Rosa Mexicano all either before or after and opera.

Be aware that Fiorello's gets packed before an opera. I have had better luck finding a spot at Josephines, that might not be a good sign.

My wife and I always stop at PJ Clarkes after the opera for beer and oysters.
