NIT final Madison Square Garden

Two tickets for NIT finals at MSG on 2nd April will be $110 dollars - is it worth it?

Not too worried about it being a top class game but will there be the atmosphere etc?

Is it a trek to get to MSG from 6th Avenue?

thanks guys

6th ave is long! Where from?

Madison Sq Garden is between 31st and 33rd streets on 7th ave. It's right in mid town, above Penn Station. Few blocks from Times Square.

If you have a sports event as a priority for your trip, go for it! It's a pretty unique arena, and worth attending an event there.

It will be AMAZING. Currently the main basketball tenant for the Garden are the dismal Knicks. Not much excitement about seeing the locals blown out game after game after game.

On the other hand, the NIT is a great tourney with a long history. While it has been surpassed by the NCAA March Madness, the NIT still manages to have some great basketball, and the enthusiasm that always comes with the college game. Part of the reason for the excitement is that these teams will feel that they were snubbed by the bigger NCAA tournament - and have something to prove. Bet it will be a sporting event that you will always remember.

Great college basketball but the atmosphere for the final game is dependent on which teams are in it and the enthusiasm of their student bodies.... Usually if you catch a student from one of the eliminated games before the finals they are more than willing to sell their ticket for a lot less and go party in NYC but the trick is to find them,

110 is a good price if you they are lower level or behind the baskets.

We paid around that prices some years ago and got the 6th row behind one of the baskets, pretty good seats.

There is always a special mood when college teams play each other, that is way different from the pro game.

It is Madison Square Garden--- not Gardens . Hope you see a good game not knowing who the participants are.

Don't even matter who the teams are - although if a local makes it [like St. Johns] the joint will be rocking. You'll have a great time at "The Worlds Most Famous Arena. For dinner I usually end up at the greasy gyro place across the street. Not exactly health food, but great with tatziki.
