Is there a baggage claim area at Penn Station for Amtrak?

Okay, I hope this isn't a laughable question, but is there a "baggage claim" area at Penn Station for folks getting off Amtrak trains? I need to meet a relative tomorrow who's coming in on a train, and I'm not sure where to tell her to head to after getting off the train. She's not checking her luggage, but I figure if there's a baggage claim area, at least she could follow signs to it.

Any other suggestions?

No tell her to meet you under the large black electronic message board that hangs overhead in the area where the ticket booths are. It is wide open there and easy to spot people. She will be coming in and going up an escalator that will lead her directly there.

It will be easier for her to find the waiting room for Amtrak passengers -- next to this big Arrivals/Departures board

Thanks, I'll try this. She's a bit older, so hopefully this'll work. This area has always seemed a little crazy to me, but maybe it's the best "landmark" there is.

If you ever see a really good, detailed map of the inside of Penn Station that isn't baffling to someone who's never set foot in the place, let me know, bil!

I'm about ready to try making one myself to post here on the forum, but my drawing/cartography skills are virtually non-existent :-)

No thanks--- I just know to look for the message board in your picture and even after all these years I usually turn the wrong way once or twice when ever I am in that building.

They are correct. Meet under the Train Board. As long as you are near the main room for PENN Station (not the LIRR), you cannot miss it. That is THE place to meet.

If she is an older traveler, she can ask the conductor on her train to call for an official Amtrak Red Cap (porter) to escort her from the train to the spot where you'd like to meet her. The 'Red Cap' will carry her luggage etc...Highly recommend since she's coming in on a busy Friday! Good luck.

Thanks everyone. We'll find her. Eventually. I avoid Penn Station like the plague, so I'm not looking forward to going period.

there are multiple black boards - its always an issue when people ask me to meet them under the board - or the police podium (several of those too). I always meet people by the waiting room too, but there are entrances on 2 sides so you have to specify. The Aunt Annies or Cripsy Creme are good spots too.
