We are looking for a very cool place for dinner, preferably not too far from Columbus Circle OR on the Upper East Side (depends which night we go), would love Vietnamese, Thai or Japanese cuisine as we are doing Italian the 2nd night. Looking for a place with nice atmosphere, price no object...

I love Asiate and that and Masa, which is really price no object (in the same building but different entrance) are the only places that fit your description in those 2 areas.

Any of the other Asian places that are "cool" or romantic are downtown.
