January after New Year's is generally much much cheaper than Christmas. What is your budget per night for a hotel?

Ah - stay in NYC at christmas time if you can afford it. It's magical at night. You'll want to walk 5th Avenue and see the store decorations, Rockefeller square with the tree and ice skating, etc. So much fun. Last year it snowed and added to the magic - went running over to Central Park and enjoyed that too.

Your budget doesnt seem limited at all. We go on 17 December till 21st December our hotel at Staybride Suites (Times Square) cost £900 inc breakfast!!! thats hotel and flights (from manchester)......... all it is now is our spend... we are getting a new york city pass which pays for attractions like natural history museam etc... ive paid extra for my tour off brooklyn neighbourhood christmas lights :) and our photo tour but ofcourse these are optional and your spend on food of £500 seems same as what im taking..... GO FOR IT :) christmas time though definately January is so depressing... xxxxxxxxxxxx

Expedia has some great deals for January right now. I saw 4 days with flights from Edinburgh and staying at The Plaza for 775 each. I was so tempted to book! I do love NYC at Christmas, but at least after Christmas the crowds have died down a little.
