Not the most glamourous or most "service oriented" method, but the fastest and cheapest. ($25 rt)

By contrast, a taxi or car service will be $80+ each way.

You can also take a train to NY Penn Station, and then a taxi to your hotel.

Air train to New Jersey Transit train to Penn station NY and then one stop on the subway gets you there probably the fastest and cheapest- The Olympia bus also works but is subject to traffic. Stay away from the shared shuttle services like someone suggested.

Hey JM04:-) We just returned from a trans on Tues and called Carmel car service for a pick up to get home on the UWS..$45 +tips/toll so in total, we gave the driver $70. Would have opted for NJTransit which avoids the horrific traffic you can encounter (like we did!), but our heavy luggage and the long haul of 11 hours just didn't justify it;-) Have fun..and EnjoY!

The bus was easy and stops very near Times Square. If you take the train you will have to take taxi or subway on to your hotel.

The best way is Airtrain to NJ Transit. Or one of the buses to Port Authority since its near your hotel. Or, jump in a cab.

The Blue Shuttle aka SuperShuttle is horrible and to be avoided unless you want a whirlwind tour of other hotels in NYC. And since you say "we" its not economical if you're more than 1 person - you may as well take a cab.

I live in NYC and do this trip by SuperShuttle or by public transit. SuperShuttle costs $23, or $20 with an amex or other discounts available via a Google search.

Public transit involves taking the Airtrain to the NJ Transit train ($15) which takes you to Penn Station (33rd St) in 25 mins.

Hi, we'll be arriving into Newark Terminal C and it looks as if we can catch the Airtrain straight to Penn Station. Does anyone know if (i) we need to change trains at the Newark Liberty International Airport Station, (ii) do we need to buy two tickets each, and (iii) how much does it cost? Maany thanks for your help

The price has been reduced from $15.00 to $12.50 per person.

Each person needs to have their own ticket.

This is the fastest, easiest, and most efficient way to get into Manhattan from Newark Airport as it avoids traffic, avoids the cost of a car service, and it just works out nicely.

AirTrain Newark stops right inside Terminal C but the AirTrain simply deposits you where the heavy rail commuter train to New York Penn Station picks you up. It is all very quick, easy, seamless, safe, modern, well-marked, and user-friendly.

The AirTrain you board inside Terminal C does not go into Manhattan. The fast and frequent NJ Transit train that will take you into Manhattan does not go into the airport terminals.

Please feel free to ask any additional questions.
