I have never ben to NYC but I am due to go in June. The best months for weather I would say are May, June or Sept.

Maybe someone who lives in NYC will correct me, but from looking at forecast these seem the nicest months to be in NYC.

Again, best is relative..

IMHO:

Best weather-April-May-June-Sept-Oct-Nov and early Dec

Very warm weather- July-August

Very Cold- Late Dec -Jan-Feb and March

Best prices on rooms are usually Jan and Feb..

It's pretty much always busy..but busiest around Christmas

Quinny has it about right. October and late April could be good as well, but if I were visiting my own City, June or September.

I haven't decided on a place to stay as yet. I think it is too early to book for May/June at the moment, going to start looking from Feb onwards.

I have done a bit of looking for ideas and the Distrikt Hotel seems quite a good place to stay and reasonible.

Yes I agree a bit early for booking but I'm trying to do a bit of research as to where to stay, I shall check out Distrikt Hotel.

Thanks

for what its worth. i live in socal and i would stay away from NYC in july, aug. i was there for 2 days near the end of july and it was 90F and humid. with all that concrete around you radiating the heat makes it very uncomfortable. it was horrific and im no stranger to heat! you couldnt walk 2 blocks without getting sweaty. everyone on the subway stinks too lol.

We are also planning to go in June and want to stay at The Strand.

When would be the best time to book?

Do the prices go up nearer the date to go or do they go down?

Thanks

My personal favourite time to go is September/October.

December if you want the "Christmas" vibe.

We were there mid September and the weather was perfect for all the sightseeing. Comfortable weather for all the walking required. We're planning to go again September next year.
