1st Time NY - Staying Hilton Times Square

First time in NY staying at Hilton Times square first week of May for 3 nights. Looking for suggestions on must see/do. Not really big art fans but would be interested in a Broadway show. Otherwise looking for general ideas for a typical tourist visit. Have a request in for letterman tickets.

Any suggestions near the hotel for food or activities. Also looking to for other suggests that may require some travel around the city.

Thanks.

On the panels to the left and right you can see a list of "Things to do" and top questions about New York City. I wouldn't eat in Times square, there are a lot of chain restaurants which can be overpriced, or just the same as you will get at any other outlet. Within a short distance of your hotel you can head over to 9th Ave in the 40s and 50s for lots of good value choice instead!

Suggest you spend some time reading through the FAQ/Top Questions on NYC in the right hand column on this page. Here's a link to the must see/do page from it

tripadvisor.com/Travel-g60763-s409/New-York-…

Unless you give us more personal information on YOUR likes, budget, food choices etc. all we can provide are general tips you can read. There's info there also on buying Broadway tickets. Without knowing what shows you've seen and liked (or not liked) how can we advise you? I can tell you NOT to eat in any chain restaurant like Applebees, TGI Fridays etc. that you find elsewhere. They're typically not good in NYC and grossly overpriced.

is a good place to do some research on your own. Your hotel is in the west 40's or midtown west. Places I like nearby are Basilica for Italian, West Bank Cafe for American and Marseille for French, all within a few blocks of your hotel. But you'll find lots more options if you head out of Times Square

We stayed at that hotel in December..it's very covenient to the subway which will take you anywhere in the city so please don't limit your meals to that area! We did eat pizza one night at the John's in Times Square and we had desert one night at Juniors in Times Square. Both were execellent!
