Another way to get to Ellis Island

Is there any other way to get to Ellis Island other than Statue Cruise Line? It was so crowded and added so much stress to the commute back and forth. Maybe the water taxis? I have to say though it did give you the Ellis Island experience being herded around and having to go thru endless check points manned by government employees.

The National Park Service, understandably enough, wants to limit the number of visitors at any given time at the Statue of Liberty and on Ellis Island. So that's why NPS has authorized just one outfit -- now Statue Cruises, for years before it was Circle Line -- to land at those sites. Statue Cruises' dock in New Jersey isn't as congested.

Considerng that Ellis Island is part of the National Parks system, which is a government agency, of course it is staffed by government employees. What else would you have expected -- elves?
