John's Pizza Times Square - timing

As it happens, John's TS is on the same block as our theater.

7 pm show on a Tuesday in August.

John's website shows no sign of being able to reserve, and they aren't in Opentable.com

A few posts here suggest that a 5:30 customer might not have to line up. We would likely have just a drink and the pizza. Is 5:30 safe? Is John's as good as anywhere else re getting us out the door in time?

Places that take reservations and know you're going to the theater will be a better option to guarantee getting out in time. But you can try 5:00. It should be ok unless you're a large group.

I would try to be there for 5:00 if possible. I had a bad experience there where we got there about 1.5 hours before curtain and we were told that it would be a short wait for a table. We ended up waiting for at least 45 min. and still we weren't seated - we ended up having to go around the corner and just getting a slice before our show. It's better to leave a little extra time than to be too rushed. It is in your favor that some shows will have 7:00 curtains and some will be 8:00.
