Another rainy day today. Need suggestions

Yesterday we covered times square, rock center, Rock of Ages, dinner at Saju Bistro (thanks to NYwhiz) and lots if walking.

Today it looks like rain is moving in, so I was thinking of going to Johns on Bleeker for real NY pizza and go find the bull near wall street. We have memorial tickets at 5:00. What other stuff to see/do in between in downtown area on a rainy day?

Just buy a $3 umbrella on the street (if you don't have one) and stick to your original schedule. Do you think we stop doing things here because of the rain. just do what you were going to do.

There are many art galleries in Chelsea or Soho; art museums are plenty here and a great way to spend some time on a rainy day. Just wander around near John's Pizza - tons of little shops to explore. You won't run out of anything to do.

Note that the bull is not on Wall Street, but is instead at the northern tip of Bowling Green, a few blocks down Broadway from Wall Street. Also note that because of the barriers aroudn the bull made necessary by the protestors you will not be able to get very close, or to stand on the sidewalk to get a picture other than behind it.

If you decide to walk from Bleecker, head down Broadway and you will find all the shopping you can handle.

If you are near the World Trade Center area, I suggest visiting St. Paul's chapel -- a block away. This little gem survived the devastation despite being soooo close. It became a refuge for rescue workers for many months afterwards, and is now a shrine/memorial to 9/11 inside.... amazing collection of badges from all the rescuers, pictures, notes, banners, etc. Free.

Oh....and Cafe Reggio 199 MacDougal St. -- one of NYs oldest espresso places...amazing ambiance......"Next Stop Greenwich Village" (Shelley Winters, Lenny Baker, Ellen Greene...1976) filmed extensively there as it was the "hangout" for the main characters. Stop by and enjoy a last vestige of Greenwich Village Bohemia!

I'd go uptown to a museum, such as The Met, the Museum of the City or New York, or the Natural History. All these are pay-what-you-wish.

Lower Manhattan down here is very, very soggy! I bet the Staten Island Ferry will be EMPTY, but the views might be foggy, not the best. To escape from the rain, go to the Winter Garden atrium at the World Financial Center.

After St. Paul's Chapel, stop by Firestation 10. You can buy a t-shirt or baseball cap and support their foundation.

Anyone else think that the Paris cafe scene in the TV show "Pan Am" , where the stewardess gets recruited to the CIA, looked an awful lot like Cafe Reggio?

Oops, I meant the Rome scene.
