Parade 31st October.

Two forty somethings and two 21year olds ( all female ) arriving at the weekend.

Any hits or tips for the halloween parade on Monday, where to stand for the best view, how early should we arrive, should we dress up?

Thanks for your help.

Dress up if you want, and if you do feel free to march in the parade. The streets in and around 6th ave get packed hours before the parade passes by, but if you march in the parade you will have a unique experience with several hundred thousand other revelers. I live about 150 feet from 6th ave in the village and have never been able to get closer than, well 150 feet. If the weather is nice I just hang out my window.

Hola.

We love to be in NYC, especially Central Park, on the days leading up to Halloween as there are many events that are fun for “children of all ages” (including us)....pumpkin carvings and contests, “spook” houses, and zoo events, and for more information see:

nycgovparks.org/festivals/pumpkin_festival.p…

But the MAIN EVENT is what we really crave, and that is the Village Halloween Parade….an event that we have been participating in for almost 40 years. The Parade is not to be missed (!) as it is attended by almost 2 million people either IN the parade or watching it from the side lines. We don our costumes and join the countless other witches and goblins and line-up on 6th Avenue just south of Spring Street (in the West Village) for the most fun that we ever have in 6 hours. We recommend that folks get there no later than 5:30 PM as the crowds are huge and the police have most of streets barricaded for the parade; take the subway (C or E trains) to Spring Street and then walk to 6th Avenue. DO NOT FORGET YOUR CAMERA! For more information see:

Hope this helps. Your questions are always welcome.

Abrazos,

Matt
