Hi do the clubs in New York have a shoes only dress code?, like they do in the UK or are trainers allowed?.

you would best be asking the individual clubs as no all will have exactly the same dress code

One of the things that I love about rock clubs is that they really do not care what you wear on your feet. During my younger moshing days, steel toed shoes were always handy. But usually I just wore sneakers. As for the fancier supper type clubs, I would not have the faintest idea. As LMV said, ask 'em.

But, when you do ask these clubs, no one in America calls these shoes "trainers." Ask about "sneakers." Obviously, we in America do more sneaking about than training for anything.

Assuming that you're referring to the type of club that plays house/techno: most--if not all--clubs in NYC will frown upon men coming in wearing trainers and anything other than a dress shirt.
