West Village after dinner?

Staying at the Smyth this coming weekend for my husbands bday (late 40's omg!) ....need a suggestion for a place to go after L'Artusi for drinks on saturday night -maybe a little music...don't mind a youger crowd but have no interest in standing behins a velvet rope of being turned away :-0

Any locaton between restaurant and hotel is fine

Thanks for any suggestions

I have no idea where the Smyth is.

The following places are near your restaurant and range from bar+music to mainly music with drinks, although they all have a bar of some type:

Smalls (183 W 10th Street, $20 cover)

55 Bar (55 Christopher Street, $10 cover + 2 drinks)

Duplex (on corner near 55 Bar, varies - also check their upstairs area)

Village Vanguard (178 7th Ave South, varies)

There's also plenty more in that area. Check schedules/web sites and have a list of options because on a Saturday night, nobody can promise that a bar/club won't be packed. I don't think Fat Cat (75 Christopher Street) is what you're looking for, but if you like board games (scrabble, etc.) and a beer, then this is your place. Fat Cat is also frequently packed.

Sorry about that!

The Smyth is in Tribeca w Broadway and Chambers st

But thank you for the suggestions in the Village - I'll look through the list closely..sounds like there is no shortage of places for a cocktail :)

BTW, I think NooYawkuh's suggestions are great! The shows upstairs at The Duplex are usually very funny.

Arthur's Tavern is another sing-along piano bar in the WV. (Was it in a recent episode of "SMASH", or was that a set made to look like it?)

Other ideas in the WV (interesting, but not necess. w/music):

Employees Only (no sign. "Speakeasy" theme.)

Ayza Wines and Chocolates

If you want to stay in Tribeca, here are some ideas for drinks (again, probably no music.):

Terroir - wine bar (no music). Lots of wine choices and yummy snacks.

Brandy Library - what it says. A library for booze. With librarians.

Ward III - also a retro place with "mixologists."

Bubble Lounge - specializing in champagne and other carbonated cocktails.

...not to mention lots of Irish pub-type places, such as Reade Street Pub, Walker's, South's, etc, etc...
