Down Memory Lane Hotel opinions please

Coming home for 5 nights: June8-13,2011.

Have spent tens of hours researching hotels and was really about to book LIC.

However when I checked in to Eastgate Tower today, I found I could book a studio suite 1 BR for $1038 incl taxes and fees. This is a non-refundable rate. Should i take it???? or wait for perhaps something else.

Park Central is running a sale.......but it's still too expensive

Our first ap't was on W.87th St bet. West End and Riverside in 1960...a 5th flr walk-up.. I adore the UWS, but the hotels are just too costly. 57th St. is also terrific for convenience, but the Salisbury is also "costly".

I'm all ears. Thanks a million for all your time.

PS. We spend much time walking...will be all over town and will also purchase a week's metro card.

i'd book a cancelable rate at the Eastgate while you look for other options.

I would skip the Park Central as I hate that place. But if you are looking to relive your time here with all the hustle and bustle of staying in Grand Central or Penn Station you might just like it--- I would go for the Eastgate cancelable also and work from there

I was going to mention

www.wymanhouse.com

to you but there's been so much discussion about the city closing down b & b's, I think it would be dangerous to book a b & b rather than a hotel. If you want to be on the upper west side, I'd look at some of the hotels there like

beaconhotel.com

milburnhotel.com

ontheave-ny.com

excelsiorhotelny.com

http://www.thelucernehotel.com/

I'm also not a fan of the Park Central.

Thank you, experts!

Kateoz: I e-mailed J&J a couple of weeks ago. They did not reply. I'll try again,

bilmin09: When i read reviews of the Pk. Central, I have to agree...but my brother stayed their over Xmas for $150/nite and had no complaints & stays at posher places RTW. Go figure. It's not that i want to be in the hustle & bustle of midtown.....I'm intersted in a decent size room @ a "bang for my buck" price. perhaps I'm just a brat.!....you can't take the girl out of B'klyn.

NYWhiz: Have been thru your list.....but it gets to a point where if it means a $500 savings to stay in LIC vs. Manhattan we get crazy.

That's why the price point of Eastgate sounds so good. $177/night + tx & fees.

Have a great weekend. Cheers, R

Then book one of the nicer LIC hotels as cancelable now and wait to see if you get something better in Manhattan closer to the trip. I think it's nuts to give them your money now.

You convinced me NYWhiz.

I'll book the Vetiver or Country Inn...want to be close to a subway or my hubby will NOT be a happy camper.

Are there ever "secret sales" for UWS hotels?????????

I'll just keep searching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not too early to put Museum Mile on your list for June 12

Thanks a million!

Did not realize museummile fest was then. I'm thrilled. In addition to the Met,which we always go to...have never been to the Neue Gallerie and also want to check out the Rubin downtown.....art of the Himalayas & surrounding area. We are museum freaks!

TA is the best......and the NYC forum is unbeatable!! So many DE's with thousands of posts and info that applies to the individual.. Your time is truly appreciated.
