1. Re: grocery stores

Even without knowing the area, but knowing NYC in general, the answer is yes. There will be deli's / corner stores etc etc nearby for water.

EDIT - My guess was right - I've glanced on google street view. One on one corner, the another on the other corner, on the opposite side of the street.

There's Duane Reade is at 721 9th Ave, New York, NY 10019. This is a chain with many locations throughout the city, practically one on every block. They carry water, toiletries, snacks etc.

You can enter your hotel (or other) address and it'll show you nearby businesses and places of interest.

Never a prob finding what you need at any hour of the day in the city. Worked nightshift many years ago in manhattan and we would pop out at 3am for coffee and snacks.

Rather than 'convenience' stores like Duanne Reade, what are the best fully fledged grocery stores on Manhattan? A fair dinkum supermarket I'm talking about not some deli that offer only a few choices.

Awvenning - the delis have a lot more range than the convenience stores in Melbourne. That said, some supermarket chains in NY:

Food Emporium

Whole Foods

Trader Joe's
