What date is this for?

How many are you?

Is flight to LHR from EWR??? Most flights to lhr are from JFK.

The airtrain is a monorail that only goes as far as the train station at the airport. From there you need some other train whether PATH or NJ transit to get to Newark Penn station or Jersey City.

You should repost on the Newark NJ fourm. There is a top question about getting from EWR to downtown. Plus there is plenty to do in New Jersey as well. Here are a few links.

As AERULES said, it sounds like you have a visit to New Jersey.

You do not need to come into New York City at all if you do not want to. You can spend your entire approximately 34 hours in New Jersey doing some of the things AERULES has mentioned above.

Should you wish to spend some time in New York City, then you should plan to come directly into New York City from the airport and you shouldn't stay in New Jersey. Newark is a good base for visiting other things in New Jersey but not really for Manhattan.

If you do want to come into Manhattan, staying at a hotel near New York Penn (such as The New Yorker or the Affinia Manhattan) would be a good idea.

yep,

Hotels NYC £250 plus, hotel Newark Penn station or Jersey shore next to PATH station £100 - with 10 minute path ride to WTC !

Just had the question about if the EWR air train goes all way to Newark Penn station or not .... thought NYC people may also know the answer as far more active forum.

AirTrain Newark takes you to a self contained facility where you can get NJ Transit and Amtrak trains in the direction of Downtown Newark and New York City (as well as points north on Amtrak). It is also a place where you can get trains to New Brunswick, Princeton, Trenton, the Jersey Shore (not to be confused with Jersey City) as well as Amtrak service to points south such as Philadelphia, Wilmington, Baltimore, etc.

The facility is entirely self contained. You can not get out any other way than another train (AirTrain back toward the terminals or NJ Transit / Amtrak - no cabs at this train station)

I'm reasonably certain you'll be able to find a good hotel for under £250 but without some additional information such as when this is for (need date) we are operating in the hypothetical.

But I repeat, if your flight out leaves from JFK, having a hotel in NJ is not very convenient. If you leave again out of EWR, see if you can get a 4* hotel in Jersey City/Hoboken on Hotwire. It will be a closer and nicer than staying at the train station in Newark.

If you're leaving out of JFK, you can bid on a hotel on Priceline for around 100gbp. If you don't know about Priceline, go to

Putting to one side the question of hotel rates, the Hilton at Newark Penn Station is fine. It's an easy trip into NYC from there on either NJ Transit trains or PATH trains.

As others have pointed out, the AirTrain does not go all the way into Newark, so you'd need to change from the AirTrain to a NJ Transit train at the Newark Airport rail station. However, the hotel runs a courtesy bus from the AirTrain courtesy bus station. There's no charge for this portion of the AirTrain since you aren't going all the way to the rail station. Confirm this with the hotel, of course, but this is what I'd do if I were staying there.

Hi. Jersey girl here who usually rents a car at EWR. I'll be going from EWR to Penn Station Manhattan. What train do I transfer to from the Air Train at EWR. I'm hoping I don't have to change trains at Penn Station, Newark.

Thanks in advance for your help.

AirTrain Newark connects the terminals with the Newark Airport train station.

NJ Transit connects the airport with New York Penn Station. All trains between Newark Airport and New York Penn make an enroute stop at Newark Penn with no change of trains.

The only time you would ever have to change trains at Newark Penn is something like one train a day around 2:00AM - all others are direct making an enroute stop with no change of trains.

It is a combined $12.50 ticket inclusive for AirTrain Newark / NJ Transit between the terminals and New York Penn via the "rail transfer station"
