Supermarket locations

I would be grateful if anyone could advise if New York has any supermarkets and if so, whereabouts are they situated?

Go to google maps and pull up your HOTEL address. Then use the search nearby feature.

I think you must be using the word "supermarkets" to mean something other than what we mean. Here, supermarket means a place to buy groceries, and of course there are places to buy groceries in New York City. Eight million people live here, and we all eat. Do you mean something else?

Speak for yourself, Brooklynbridge, lots of locals here survive on take out and have no idea how to navigate a supermarket! :-)

If you're looking for a generic convenience store, you can find them everywhere, although some of us refer to them as bodegas. But if you're looking for a real treat, try places like Fairway or Zabar's.

When we are in NYC we always go to Zabars for specialty items, but it is more expensive. If you are looking for bargains we usually find them more toward the East Village. Here is a link to the ones that show up on Google:

Do you mean grocery stores or do you mean shopping malls?

Target has a location in Brooklyn - very convenient to lower Manhattan and right at the busiest subway station in Brooklyn. There is a shopping mall there and there is also a huge supermarket - Pathmark.

There are a couple large Pathmark locations in Manhattan as well - one near the East Broadway station on the F train and another near the 4,5 and 6 trains at 125th Street / Lexington. There are additional ones as well.

There is a Super Stop and Shop in Long Island City and a Shoprite in Brooklyn and another one in Jersey City.

There is also the Manhattan Mall for non-grocery shopping and Macy's for department store shopping.

There is absolutely nothing you can't find here.

Yes, there are large grocery stores in Manhattan and elsewhere in NYC. There are also smaller neighborhood grocery markets.

Use google maps, map your hotel address, then type grocery store or supermarket in the search. It will highlight locations and provide additional information if you hover over the highlighted location.

There are very large supermarkets all over Queens and Staten Island, both of which are in New York City. Of course, if you are staying in Manhattan, such information would be worthless to you, and a waste of our time to supply -- even though you asked for it.

Therefore, primarily to keep us from wasting time answering a ridiculously vague question, where will you be when you will be wanting groceries while in New York City, and what sort fo groceries do you think it is you will be wanting at the time?
