Looking for a place that is less than $100 a night

My husband and I will be traveling to New York this weekend! It was a sudden trip and have absolutely nowhere to stay. I have been searching online and am overwhelmed with so many choices. We need a place from June 30 to July 6th. We don't mind staying at a hostel and would love to be in the Manhattan area. We are also aware of the taxes. Need a New Yorkers advice please. :)

Less than $100 a night in Manhattan? I'm a out-of towner and that even has got my eyebrows raised. Are you folks young and not too finicky?

Under $100 is very tough in the NYC area. Chelsea International Hostel has rooms with two beds for $63 (plus tax). Shared bathroom. I haven't checked availability.

Hosteling International is another choice. You could stay in a co-ed dorm, but it will be slightly over budget. You will have access to a kitchen though, so you can save money on food. They have availability.

Hostelling International has some beds available for your dates for $26/each. You will be sleeping 6-8 to a room. Check their site, and if interested, book soon, lots of options for that week are already sold out.

A friend booked a room at Hotel Belleclaire for approx $115 per night for this coming weekend. You might want to check it out for your dates.

There are double rooms at the Jane Hotel and the Pod, two other budget hotels.

Well I'm a bit stunned myself, but you can get the Country Inn & Suites in Long island City for $91.38/night plus tax for your dates on their own website on a summer promo special. This place is hugely popular and also includes free breakfast and free wifi. It's only a short subway ride to Manhattan. Typically only a fleabag place would be under $100/night so this is a real find imo.

Cynthia, grab that rate at the Country Inn immediately -- it is a very convenient location, and a nice hotel.

Great work, Whiz!!!

"I have been searching online and am overwhelmed with so many choices."

you're overwhelmed by so many choices of hotels in NYC under $100? I would think the list would be, um, "nothing found for your dates"

I agree - grab the Country Inn!
