Maybe you refer to Milford Hotel. If you do please do not forget to post a review as it used to be almost a dump and now is almost fully renovated.

Very easy. Take the Airtrain to Jamaica (the actual exit is Sutphin Blvd./Archer Ave.) and connect there to the subway. You want the Manhattan-bound E train. Get off at 42nd Street. If you exit toward the back of the train, you'll find the street exit for the SE side of 44th Street. The hotel is across the street.
