www.broadwaybox.com lists discount codes for Broadway, Off Broadway and other shows but they probably won't have anything for January yet, probably not before November or maybe October

Another site is www.goldstar.com which you can join for free and has some additional discount codes (much overlap with broadwaybox but not complete overlap). They also have a paid membership but I don't know much about it.

In my experience, for Broadway and Off Broadway shows, all other discount sites will have the same discounts as broadwaybox. That said, www.theatermania.com has those same discounts but also some additional information about the shows. Ditto for playbill.com

To see what the critics are saying about varous shows got to www.didhelikeit.com

TKTS apps are available for your smart phone.

The best deal is the 7 day Metrocard for 29 USD each person. You should book a time slot for free for the September,11 memorial if you are interested. You should book a slot for the SOL ferry if you want to visit the SOL and Ellis island. Other than that you can wing it.

I would also suggest looking at the top questions on the right using a computer and having a quick look at all the pointers. Quite informative to be honest.

Sites like Groupon and Living Social and even Travelzoo very regularly have things like $25.00 for $50. to spend at such and such restaurant.

You'd really want to cross-reference anything with yelp before you purchase it.

Actually, Yelp occasionally has those things too. Groupon and Living Social are two of the biggest ones. Bloomspot also is another player. You can sign up to receive offers specifically for New York City and specifically for restaurants (so you don't get river cruises in Washington DC and skydiving in Costa Rica)

Sometimes you get good deals on good restaurants but you also see a number of places come up that simply can't fill their restaurant at their posted prices (not such good restaurants)

You really have to do your research - considering the volume of guests / visitors in NYC, there are plenty of mediocre restaurants catering to visitors - places the locals know to avoid. Reading reviews and planning ahead will really pay huge dividends.
