The tree at Rockefeller Center will be lit on the Wednesday of the week following Thanksgiving -- that is, Wednesday, November 28, 2012, and will stay lit through January 7, 2013.

The tree lighting this year will be on November 28. From Thanksgiving (Nov. 22 this year) through the first week or two of December are some of the highest priced times of year in NYC. The later you go in November, the more likely you are to see Christmas decorations. Also, the more expensive it will be. If you want to go in November, check the middle of the month through the early part of Thanksgiving week. Kayak.com is a great site to use for checking prices for hotels. Also look at travelzoo.com for deals.
