Sept (2013) hotel prices

So we are visiting again next year, in Spet. I like to plan early. I have been looking at hotels, and they are ridiculously expensive!! Why? We stayed at the Hilton Manhattan East this past April for around $200/night, when I look there now, it is almost double. (My dates are not yet available, but checking the week before they are almost double what we paid in April).

Thank you, enjoy your weekend!!

1) Looking this far out is not going to give you good rates. When your dates appear you will only be seeing "rack rates".

2) September is an extremely busy time to visit, much busier than April and you cannot expect to get the same rates you got at that time.

Sept is one of the priciest times for hotels. There will be no bargains.

Hi, was about to start researching the same time frame, but just wondering if early October makes any difference or not with regard to prices?

Thanks

No, it is pricey as well. Check the end of August, that is where you will find deals.

It will still not be cheap but might be better than Sept.

During Sept and Oct, some dates will be pricier than others, but it is a pricey time in general. Your $200 price in April was a bargain. This is why folks on the forum are always saying "hotel prices fluctuate".

Avoid Fashion Week at the beginning of September. Avoid the convening of the U.N. General Assembly towards the latter half of September (look up exact dates), and avoid Halloween at the end of October. There will be other fluctuations within the time period as well.

If you avoid the highest demand times, you may be able to find some slightly adjusted rates published over what you are seeing this far in advance. The best way to do that is to book something that can be canceled without a fee, then watch rates.

If you don't mind staying in Secaucus Nj this would work for your price range.

Thank you all for your responses. Our dates are not flexible as we are coming to watch the Giants play the Yankees. I was able to snag an ok rate at the DoubkeTree Times Square, getting part of our stay free with points.

Last year (April), we stayed at Hilton Manhattan, which is $600/night for Sept!! Ridiculous!! Times Sq was cheaper, buy half on some nights.
