351 meadowlands express

Hi there,

I'd like to catch the bus '351 meadowlands express' to the Metlife Stadium on Dec 9th for the game N. Orleans Saints v. NY Giants. As my son is a journalism sudent he intends to do a report about the transport to the stadium and the ambiance around the stadium before the fans enter there. We're not going to see the game. We're going to stay there about one hour and then return to Port Authority Bus Terminal. So my questions are:

Do we have to wait for the game ends to return to the Bus Terminal? Is it safe to catch this bus, specially because my son will carry his digital camera for some photos?

Thanks a lot!

There is no #351 bus. It has been replaced by the train.

I beleve the 315 still runs. I would go with the train however. Even though it is not direct you can get a better feel for abiance on the way in Secacus Junction while changing trains.. Also look into Redds in Moonachie as that is a big pre game hang out.

Per this link:

"The 351 bus service will begin two and one half (2 1/2) hours prior to the start of a game and will continue to run until one half hour (1/2) after the start of a game. The 351 bus line will be operational for approximately one (1) hour following the conclusion of the game"

But if I'm reading the OP question correctly....he is trying to return on the bus too. And not wait until the end of the game to do so, but rather just stay an hour or so at the stadium and then return. I don't know if that will happen. Seems like a service geared towards people attending the game, not leaving as the game is just getting underway?

I would agree. I don't think you can take the bus back to NYC when you want to leave.

Here is the link to the New Jersey Transit Trip Planner:

The game is at 4:25; I presume you'll want to arrive there around 2:00 pm to see the pre-game tailgate at its peak for an hour.

It looks like there is a bus that leaves hourly, at 3:20 pm, 4:20 pm, 5:20 pm:

Depart : W PERIPHERAL RD 100'N OF STADIUM CLUB RD at 4:20 PM

Board : Bus No 164 toward NEW YORK VIA MEADOWLANDS

Arrive : PORT AUTHORITY BUS TERMINAL at 4:37 PM

The cost is $4.25 and it takes about 20 minutes.

It says that the train schedules for that weekend have not yet been set, but they are unlikely to be helpful to see, since you'll be leaving long before the game ends.
