92st and 2nd ave

Planning a trip to New York City and looking at places to stay. We are university students.

Could anyone comment on the area of 92st and 2nd ave...is that a good area to stay.

Looking at various sites for accommodations and wondering about the site "flip key" .

Thanks in advance for any help you may have.

Ro, you may want to read the second top question on right hand side of page. Flip Key is affiliated with Tripadvsor and they do perform some checks but it's up to you to check if you are booking a legit place so beware.

Flipkey does not perform any checks about whether a place is legal in NYC law - in fact, they've said specifically that they refuse to perform those checks. In other words, Flipkey apartments are not trustworthy for NYC because they may be illegal (and most are.)

Short term rentals, meaning rentals under 30 days, are being illegally offered for rent in New York City. Aside from that, why would you want to be so far uptown?

It's not that far uptown. It's just illegal and likely a disaster waiting to happen.

Also, as university students you may be under 21. Make sure any hotel you do choose allows under 21s to check in. Most do not!

92nd and 2nd is far uptown and rather out of the way for most tourists but perhaps viewed differently for those who live there. Other than the possibility of reasonably priced lodging, what draws you there, op?
