inexpensive jazz bars

Hi, i am looking for a laid-back live jazz bar-pub, for a drink or two with casual atmosphere -not something very formal.

In Manhattan area, preferbly around Village.

I dont care that much about big names as far as the music is good.

A cheap (no cover, low prices on food and drinks) and very laid-back place for jazz is the American Legion in Harlem.

yelp.com/biz/american-legion-post-398-new-yo…

Their schedule is at the bottom of this page -- they only have live jazz some nights (and DJs on the others):

In the Village, Arthur's Tavern is a good spot without a cover charge (though there is a drink minimum):

Yes, the Garage has no music charge at all. Here's a link to jazz bars in the village with descriptions.

Don't limit yourself to the village.

The Lenox Lounge

(212) 427-0253

288 Lenox Ave.

(124th / 125th Sts.)

Nice place. Good music.

Across the street from the subway. And if you are a movie fan, the streets around here were used in the film American Ganster.

If you are going to the Lenox Lounge, do it before end of year.

Litsa's link for Cleopatra's Needle is to the obelisk in Central Park. Might be worth seeing but probably no jazz.

Here's the jazz place's URL:
