Carmines NYE report

Well I am happy to report that we had a great time on New Years Eve at Carmines last night!! We were worried if we would have to take a detour to get there since our hotel was the Doubletree Times Square at 47th and 7th. The NYPD were so nice in letting us go down Broadway and stop for photo's, Once we got there it was very well organized with the VIP line and we were able to enter at 8pm as promised. Once inside we were escored to our table which we shared with a lovely couple from Brazil. The dinner was served buffet style and there were so many choices of delicious main meals, saladand breads. After dinner they brought out a dessert buffet that was great as well. The staff did a great job and we never waited for a drink. The DJ encouraged people to get up and dance. What I like most was in felt like I was amongst family or at a wedding reception. Lots of family tables with kids, a great atmosphere. At 11:45 we went outside and although Carmines is around the corner from the ball drop we got to hear the countdown and see all the confetti. It was quite surreal and I loved it!! We then went back inside till 1am then walked back to the hotel. We had to walk up to 8th then back down 46th. At that point the police officer escorted us to the Doubletree. What a great night it was a big thank you to the staff of the Doubletree Times Square, Carmines and the NYPD for making it a night to remember!!

Glad to hear a positive report!

Now, did Carmine's ever promise you a view of the ball drop, then say "oh, sorry, you'll just see the confetti from here" or did you know going in exactly what they provided?

And do you mind sharing what you paid? I think a lot of people would like to have ideas for next year.

No they never promised any such thing. We just took it upon ourself to go outside at 11:45 the bouncer said that was fine but we couldn't come back in once out till 12:15am, but we got in around 12:05. We bought the seated VIP ticket. As promised we were given a reserved table and dinner and dessert buffet plus all you could drink for 195.00 all in. I booked mine thru the Time Square Alliance website, they send me emails from time to time so I knew it should be legit. They also had a cheaper standing room ticket for 130.00 with the same as above but no table.

Could guests from Carmine's go to the corner to watch the ball drop, or were there obstacles that prevented that, such as pens keeping people in? I was thinking of buying tickets to Carmine's for NYE 2014 but was not sure if we would be able to go around the corner to watch the ball drop. Thanks for any light you can shed on this possibility.

You won't be able to go around the corner. There will be barricades up.

They allowed us to go outside at about 11:45 they said that we couldn't come back in till 12:15. They have barracades up but you can hear and see all the commotion. It was pretty exciting!! We had a great night at Carmines and I would do it again in a heartbeat!
