Some help with Statue of Liberty

Just a few questions,,

1. Is it true you can now go right to the top? I was there a few years back and you couldn't..

2. Tickets? Can I get them online before I travel to NYC, ? ( what is a good site to use)

3. Was looking to go for it opening on the Saturday morning, a decent time to go?

Statue of Liberty & Ellis island are closed for foreseeable future due to Sandy.

The statue, including the crown, was reopened the day before the hurricane, but then Sandy hit and completely destroyed the docks of both islands, plus several other systems on Liberty Island. There is no reopening date scheduled, and I doubt it will be reopened by May. Sorry.

Totally gutted.. Was in NYC last may as well, had my kids, couldn't get to see it due to refurb works.. Booked again for me, wife and kids again this may, and its closed due to sandy! Ah well, nothing I can do about it.. Just do the Staten Island ferry again!

If it does happen to be open by the time you're there (though as above, very unlikely) the official site for tickets is as follows:

I too am disappointed that it will be shut but not much anyone can do about it. I am going on a circle line cruise which gets you closer than the Staten Island Ferry.
