One Night in March

Hi All,

I'm looking for a dirt cheap and super cool place to stay for one night in Manhattan. Impossible? Looking to miraculously spend around $120 a night for a charming place. B&B suggestions welcome. Our dates are 3/23 - 3/24.

Thanks in advance!!

Impossible, and B&Bs aren't cheaper. The Country Inn and Suites in Long Island City (just across the river from Manhatta, still in New York City) has rooms for $135.

Oh, and lots of the places listed on that link Wol gave you are illegal.

Are B&Bs illegal? Maybe they mean something different to the UK B&Bs?

Some B&B's are legal but many are not. Legal ones aren't necessarily cheap.

You might take a look at rooms in hosted apartments on AirBnb. A hosted apartment means that the apartment owner is staying in the apartment and rents a room to you.

Note that the unhosted, full apartment rentals on AirBnb are almost all illegal in NYC.

For a hostel-like hotel in Manhattan that some forum members have liked, you could get the Jane Hotel at $135 (free cancellation on Expedia). Add to that ~15% tax.

Oh, I don't mind illegal! as long as the illegal aspect has to do with city permits.

I also read good things about the Chelsea Pines Inn and the Chelsea Lodge here. Both are booked though :-(
