JFK to New Jersey

My daughter will be flying into JFK from Paris early evening on a Wednesday. She'll be staying with relatives in Scotch Plains NJ and would prefer to avoid having them pick her up at the airport. She will be hauling heavy luggage with her (she's been living overseas) but is adept at public transit. Any ideas on an affordable, not-too-complicated way for her to get from JFK to a reasonable pick-up point in NJ? Thanks.

Unless she wants to take a car service (Dial 7, etc.) directly to the home of her relatives, these are the options to get from JFK to EWR from the PanNYNJ (or something like that) website. Unfortunately they don't show prices but they should be too difficult to ascertain. EWR is only about 15 miles from Scotch Plains according to Google maps, I'm sure that wouldn't be terrible for them to pick her up there.

JFK to Newark Liberty

Service

Travel Time

State Shuttle (800) 427-3207 or (973) 729-0030 90 minutes

AirTrain JFK and mass transit (877) JFK-AIRTrain (535-2478) Travel times vary

(Hmmm, that doesn't look as helpful as it did on the official website, where each option was a link).

From JFk she can take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station. Then the Long Island Railroad to NY Penn Station, next the NJTransit North Jersey Coast Line to Newark Penn Station and finally the Raritan Valley Line to Fanwood.

Thanks, guys. Sounds like a lot of transfers for someone hauling a heavy duffle bag and a big carry-on bag. I was hoping there might be a convenient train or bus route she could take directly from the airport, but it doesn't sound like that is the case. I'll look into a shuttle.
