Lower East Side to Brooklyn....

Hello, on one of our days in NYC we are scheduled for Tenement Museum, and then plan to eat lunch at Katz Deli..We have a few hours (3 to 4) afterward and so I wondered about heading over to Brooklyn to eat some ice cream (suggestions on the best?) and to browse a bit and then walk back over the bridge to Manhattan (length 45 minutes?) also the Jacques Torres Chocolates would it be possible to pick some of those up too? Anything else in the DUMBO area we should check out in our limited time there? Thanks!!!!

that sounds great..and from Katz Deli, is the best way to get over to that area just to take a cab? Approximate cost? And then is it about 45 minutes to an hour to walk back over the bridge? thanks!

No look into the subway map -- think F train I believe. In fact, uses buses and subways to plan your whole trip and then waste money at times when taxis are more convenient for how you are dressed, what you are carrying or because you ditched your plan and really need to be somewhere else.

From Katz' just walk west on Houston Street a few blocks to the 2nd Avenue/Lower East Side Station of the F train. Take the Brooklyn-bound F train three stops to York Street and you'll be in DUMBO.

No cab / taxi. No. Take the subway.

Subway is the way to go.
