Little boy turning 4 in NYC

Hi everyone. We are travelling from rural Australia, and will be in NYC (Manhattan) in July for our little boy's 4th birthday (we also have a 6 year old son and almost 2 year old daughter). Have gotten some great ideas off here for activities during the day (FAO Schwarz, Central Park etc), but would love any recommendations for an authentic NYC kid's birthday dining experience (other than ChuckECheese etc). Thanks in advance

There is a site called MommyPoppins that has been mentioned here on TA before; you might get some ideas there. One example I found was a harbour cruise with onboard activities for kids. Have fun!

Jane's Carousel in Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO would be a great place to take the kids. It is in a lovely park that has a great playground as well. For food, walk up to Water Street where you will find both Almondine and Jacques Torres Chocolates.

Most kids that age here would have a party with cake. I don't think of restaurants as being particularly appealing/important to pre schoolers. But Ellen's Stardust Diner has singing waitstaff that makes a big deal over birthdays. Food is overpriced but the kids should like it if they're not bothered by loud noise.

If they like burgers and hot dogs, LT Burger near Bryant Park has both and they're good. Eating in Central Park is another idea. The zoo there and the Victorian Gardens rides should be fun.
