Traffic in June from Manhattan to the North Fork

We will be heading out to the North Fork to the vineyards in the beginning of June. What time does the majority of the traffic start? We will be taking a limo and have our first reservation at 11:00 so we want to make it in time.

Thank you!

7 am to be safe. You can eat a nice breakfast somewhere in Riverhead or even past it if you have some time. During the weekends, traffic starts building up around 9 am up until Exit 45. The traffic tends to get better after Exit 52 or so, but it's the first 15 miles where you drive through Queens is heaviest. Driving to North Fork is not as bad as dirving to the Hamptons, but some of the Hampton traffic will impact your drive.

I would allow about 2.5 hours. It's seldom longer--and depending on when you leave--it may be shorter. Your biggest issue with traffic may occur around the mid-section of Long Island, as many families head to various beach destinations like Jones Beach for the day.

It sounds like you've done your advance footwork and contacted individual wineries to let them know you're coming.
