Breakfast spot near the Cloisters Museum

We will be visiting on a Thursday morning and would love a breakfast recommendation nearby the Cloisters Museum. We plan to drive to the Cloisters so would appreciate a place that would not be too hard to find parking. Thank you!

The Cloisters is located on a hilltop in a large public park. If there are any restaurants on nearby streets, they will not have easy parking. And while the park is attractive, it won't be a short walk from the Cloisters parking lot (web site: "Visitors to The Cloisters may use free city parking available in Fort Tryon Park." Translation: You're on your own. ) to food and back. Google Maps shows a New Leaf Restaurant in the park, with Zagat ratings, but I don't know anything about it. I personally would not give up a parking space to drive for food. I would pray for a space near the museum and walk, if someone else responds with a restaurant report.

I trust you understand that The Cloisters is one of the very few museums in the city that one can drive to without being annoyed and frustrated by traffic and parking. (I have encountered traffic on the Henry Hudson Parkway due to construction on the toll bridge over the Harlem River, but not on every trip.)

Thank you for obsoperator for your post. Yes, we are not new to visiting NYC and always stay on staten island and take the ferry in, using public transport for the day, and then return back to the island. I had planned on taking the longer way to the cloisters from staten island using I95 to avoid coming into town. We can always grab a meal along the way and have a lite lunch at the museum. We will be coming back into town later that evening for dinner and a show (using public transport of course!) Thank you for your post

I usually drive to the Cloisters (for the easy parking). I would get something to eat along the way or in SI. Listen to 1010 Wins or 880 on the AM to figure out what traffic route to avoid.

The New Leaf is a fancier restaurant for lunch or dinner.

I agree with Georgia that getting breakfast on the way is a better idea as there's not a lot right nearby. If you're going to drive up and take the George Washington Bridge into Manhattan, the Original Pancake House in Ft. Lee, NJ is one idea

There's a diner in Ft. Lee called the Plaza Diner in the Oaktree shopping mall.
