Horse drawn carriages for Central Park wedding- March

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but there are so many topics related too the horses I could not find this subject directly.

My fiance would love to arrive at the wedding venue (Ladies Pavilion) in one of these carriages, and was hoping we could ask a couple of days in advance to set this up with the guys that queue up outside the Plaza. I know the Ladies Pavilion is not on the usual route so my question is, are they likely to do this for us, and if so, how much in $ extra are they likely to ask?

Thanks in advance

Beau

The routes are set, and there's no road the carriages can go on that will take you to the Ladies Pavilion, so no, I don't think it's doable.

I do not believe this is possible. They are only allowed in certain places.

Hola.

For information about that we would call the Public Relations Director at the Central Park Conservatory and for the contact information, see:

http://www.centralparknyc.org/about/news/

Those are the folks that provide (or withhold) permission for such specialized requests. If permission is provided for a special route, you would probably then need to negotiate a price for the carriages.

Hope this helps. Your questions are always welcome.

Abrazos,

Matt

Not about the carriage, but just want to make sure you're aware that March is often still quite winter-like in NYC, and in Central Park. Late in the month there *can* be spring flowers, but only if we have an early spring that year. Late March often still looks like winter - no leaves on the trees, no flowers, generally looking brown rather than green. Also it can be cold; it occasionally even snows well into March. The snow might actually be pretty. More likely you're just going to have a chilly wedding day in a 'barren' park. So if you're wanting a glorious Spring wedding in Central Park, please rethink March!

A March wedding could be a "winter wonderland" and it reminds of a famous song about "sleigh bells ringing"...it would be romantic to ride in a carriage.

If you want a winter wonderland, come in January or February, when you have a *fair* chance of snow. (NYC has some snowy years and some years with almost none). March has an off chance of snow, and an off chance of an early spring bloom, but it's most likely just to be muddy brown and chilly.

"....March has an off chance of snow..."

Where were you this past March when we had >7 inches of snow. Interestingly, we have regularly had significant snow in March:

March is a fine time to schedule a wedding, especially if you want to save a bit of money for the rest of your life :-). Hotel rates are relatively reasonable, and there is a good chance that the weather won't be way too frigid to stand in a wedding dress for a few minutes.

It won't have beautiful Spring flowers and foliage, but that's ok. If you want some flowers around, arrange for them yourselves.

You can have a FABULOUS and romantic wedding in March. Enjoy! The slight chance of snow or ice just increases the romance factor.
