Hi just looking for recommendations for really good located hotels that are near all the action and attractions with good enough sized bedrooms? I heard alot of the hotels in central locations have very small bedrooms. We may stay for 2 weeks in NYC would purchasing THE NEW YORK PASS be adviseable? Also can anyone help with an Itenery? :(

The action and attractions in NYC are spread out, so no one hotel is near all of them. As long a you're near a subway station, it will be easy to get around.

For an itinerary, get some guidebooks from the library so you can decide what appeals to you. Plot the places you want to visit on a map (paper or Internet) so you can arrange your days in a geographically logical fashion.

If you look at a map, you'll see that nothing is close to all the attractions, because the attractions aren't near each other. The better way to pick a hotel is to start with your budget per night in US dollars and your exact travel dates, and let us help you find the best hotel you can afford that's near a subway.

I'm not usually a fan of the passes, but without knowing what you like to do, there's no way to advise you. Same with an itinerary: what do you want to see/do?

There are legal apartment hotels that have kitchenettes and a bit more space which might be nice for a 2 week stay. An idea of your hotel budget and the time of year you're visiting (hotel prices fluctuate dramatically by date) would help us help you. Sme with a 2 week stay might decide to stay in 2 different areas. You might also like to include some daytrips or overnights depending on interests and time of year.

As pointed out - interesting stuff is spread out all over New York and all you need is access to a subway. But, what type of area do you want to stay in.

TImes Square - Unless we are going to a show or work in the area, New Yorkers have ceded this area to the tourists. It is crowded and has mediocre food options [alhough 9th Ave is near with better choices.] But, it is very convenient to subways and if you like the hustle and bright lights of a city this may be the place for you.

Upper West Side or Greenwich Village- Still some great attractions here, but on a much more residential scale. These are places where we actually live. Both have interesting shopping and decent restaurants.

Park Slope [Bklyn] or Williamsburg [Bklyn] - If you get a hotel bargain in these neighborhoods, you should seriously consider staying here. Both are full of great stores, wonderful nightlife and have many attractions in their own right. Park Slope is more genteel and W-burg is more hipster saturated. Both are convenient to Manhattan.

Long Island City - a neighborhood in Queens that is also in close proximety to Manhattan. Great views from Gantry State Park and very easy subway to Manhattan.

Since this is your honeymoon, and if it is within your budget, definitely try to stay in the city(Manhattan. ).

In addition to the areas Mel listed, there are also good hotels in Tribeca, SoHo, Chelsea, Union Square, Flatiron/NoMad, Gramercy, Murray Hill, on the Upper East Side, and in many other areas of Manhattan.

As others have pointed out, your budget and dates may determine the area of NYC you can afford to stay in.

And I agree with nywhiz that for 2 weeks you might want an apartment hotel and/or you might want to stay in two different areas.

Have fun planning!
