Kips Bay, good place to stay?

I'm looking at staying in Kips bay, around East 25th street.

Is this a good base to explore NY from ?

East 25th Street runs for a mile. Which hotel on East 25th Street are you thinking about staying in?

If your hotel is near a subway you will be fine as it is easy to get anywhere in NYC by Subway, Have a look on google maps for the blue M that shows where the subway station is.

Don't look to stay in an apartment. Read the third bullet in the Top Questions to the right to find out why.

It's a good base to hop on the subway from (assuming you're near a subway and not out on 1st Ave) but you will end up taking the subway everywhere. There's not a lot to walk to that is uniquely NY. Other neighborhoods can give you both.

Actually if you were on East 25th Street near 5th Avenue, Madison Avenue, or Park Avenue you'd be both near subways and within a mile (walking distance) to a lot...Empire State Building, Macy's, NY Public Library/Bryant Park, Grand Central Terminal, Madison Square Park/Flatiron Building, Union Square, the Village and Washington Square Park, Chelsea and the High Line...

But do not stay in an apartment, in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or anywhere in NYC: most apartment rentals for <30 days are illegal and scams abound. (And even if you get what you pay for, you're still breaking the law).

If you want to post a new thread with your dates, number of people (and room/bed configuration needed), and maximum budget, the hotel experts on this forum can help you out.
