restaurants with comfy booths

I have developed a back issue where sitting on on hard back chairs realy hurts after like 20 minutes. If anyone could point out spots that have nice booths id appreciate it. Price isnt and issue and we like most cuisines, except Thai.We are staying midtown East but will cab it to a nice place--thanks so much for any help

MANY restaurants have a mix of tables in the middle with hard chairs and tables long the perimeter that back onto a long cushioned 'bench'. So one side of the table is a booth-type seat and one side is hard chairs. Often there will be a few full booths as well, usually in the corners, and often larger table for larger parties.

A lot of diners have rows of booth-style tables like the set-up found more commonly in suburban restaurants.

I can't say how many of these will meet your definition of comfy. :)

Best bet is to contact the restaurants you're interested in in advance, make sure they have acceptable seats, and make sure they seat you at such a table.

Good luck!

The booths at Tamarind in Flatiron are for larger parties; the seating is mostly tables with hard chairs.

There are actually loads of restaurants with banquets along the outer walls so if you dining partner is willing to sit in a regular chair, the options are huge. Some I like:

the Monkey Bar (american food) where I recently had a restaurant week lunch that was terrific (midtown east in the Elysee hotel)

nydailynews.com/life-style/…

Gotham Bar & Grill -Gramercy area

Mesa Grill at Union Square

Park Avenue Summer (fall, winter etc.) upper east side

Minetta Tavern village

DBGB (they even have some private booth behind curtains lower east side

Cafe Boulud upper east side

Paola's (Italian/American) upper east side

David Burke's Townhouse upper east side near Bloomingdales
