Currently closed for renovations - any idea when this museum will be open again? Can't find any indication on the website.

Yes, it's too bad. But you can find some industrial design at MOMA, and lots of decorative arts at The Met, as well as textiles. There are often similar temporary shows at the Museum of the City of New York, the Bard Graduate Center, The Fashion Institute (FIT), Museum of Art and Design, and Cooper Union. You might also consider the Richard Meir model museum (Fridays by appointment only, I haven't seen it), and the Skyscraper Museum, The Architecture League, the Center for Architecture, books at the Grolier Club, Watch for architecture exhibits at Scandinavia House and the Swiss Institute. Also keep in mind the Dia Art foundation (NY Earth Room in SoHo.)
