Is this PediCab service OK?

I have read all the bad posts about PediCabs. My mom really wants to take one and asked me about this one. Anyone know about this one? Thanks

Anyone know if this company is legit?

If not, what walking tour would you suggest? Thanks

Forget the pedicabs unless you want to get ripped off.

Even though that one had so many good reviews or could they be fake?

I don't think the reviews are all faked - I'm just skeptical of the value.

I just think you're going to pay a lot for something you can do at a leisurely pace on your own. Central Park is very well-marked and extremely safe. I think these operators capitalize on the fact that people just don't want to walk, people may be intimidated by the park before they even arrive in New York City and well, it is capitalism and I'm all for capitalism. But as somebody who wants to help you get the most out of NYC, I just don't think it is a good value.

Does your mother have mobility issues? If not, please walk. You will see much more and be safer. Remember, pedicab drivers have to turn around when they are driving to speak with you.

My reasons for not wanting to take pedicabs

--Personally, don't like the idea of another human being exerting himself so to lug me around. For me, these things evoke other social contexts, class systems, etc.

-Those I've seen in NYC seem to go flying through traffic. Multiple lanes of traffic and there's the pedicab with Bill and Lucy from Iowa holding on for dear life in the back. Seems very dangerous. Cabs zip in and out.

-Last but not least: On TA I learned about the scammery and high rates.

Thanks all

It's me that has mobility issues, but I think my mom wanted to take a PediCab thinking it would be neat.

I talked to her last night and we are going to walk. Is there a good website that describes the different areas of the park? Thanks

You know those Lark scooter things they have in stores? An entrepreneur might do very well renting those out in NYC or any large city.... I bet there are lots of people with mobility issues that would appreciate such transportation while on vacation!
